Тема: Hobbies. British Musical Traditions

Мета: ─ вдосконалювати навички читання і усного мовлення з теми;

─ формувати навички непідготовленого монологічного мовлення з вживанням нових ЛО та словосполучень;

─ розвивати комунікативні здібності учнів, елементи логічного та критичного мислення;

─ виховувати повагу до британських музичних традицій;

─ формувати вміння робити узагальнення, порівняльний аналіз та висновки з вивчених навчальних ситуацій.

Хід уроку

1. Організація класу. Привітання.

2. Підготовка до іншомовного мовлення.

а) Виконання вправи 1 стор. 98 – “Edinburgh Festival”, завдання з розвитку навичок читання і монологічного мовлення:

• When does this festival traditionally take place?

• What are the festival attractions?

• Which kinds of art could be seen during the festival?

• What is an integral part of the whole festival?

в) Вправа 2 стор. 98 – “Highland Games”:

• When are the competitions usually held?

• Why do the athletes from many countries take part in the Games?

• What are the most specific kinds of sports during the competitions?

• Are the Highland Games still popular? Give your reasons.

c) Вправа 3 стор. 99 – “National Eisteddfod”:

• Why is national spirit very strong in Wales?

• Do you agree that the Welsh are a nation of singers?

• What do you know about this traditional holiday?

• Which prizes are the participants awarded with?

• What does the winner get? What is the Crowning of the Bard?

d) The pupils are given hand-outs for reading and retelling “Street Musicians”:

Visitor to London sometimes come across a busker. What is a busker? A man who sings or plays anywhere he can find an audience. People throw money in his hat or his instrument case. Buskers are usually young people between 17 and 30. Some of them play classical music, some play pop, some play folk music. They do not look rich and they aren’t rich! They play because they need money.

There are also other kinds of street musicians in London. You may see there an old man turning the handle of his barrel-organ or sometimes you can come across “a musician” with an old gramophone playing old records or a very good accordion player. By law, buskers are not allowed to sing or play in the streets of London. But many policemen allow the buskers to play in the streets. “It’s all part of London”, they say.

─ розвивати пізнавальний інтерес і естетичне сприйняття навколишнього середовища;

─ виховувати вміння працювати в парах і групах, почуття взаємодопомоги при обговоренні дискусійних проблем.
