§1 Определение перевода
Перевод – это воссоздание оригинала средствами языка перевода с точным сохранением содержания и формы. Это процесс, который имеет с одной стороны, творческую природу, а, с другой стороны, требует от переводчика владения приемами лингвистического анализа и синтеза. Понимание закономерности соотношений между средствами двух языков крайне важно при переводе текста любого типа, включая тексты экономической тематики. Различия в грамматическом строе, стиле и лексическом составе языков требуют от переводчика умения передавать неизменный план содержания при видоизменении плана выражения в соответствии с нормой языка перевода.
Основной принцип переводческих трансформаций, основанный на диалектическом подходе к слову, очень точно выражен в словах В.Г. Белинского: «Близость к подлиннику состоит в предании не буквы, а духа создания. Каждый язык имеет свои, одному ему принадлежащие средства, особенности и свойства до такой степени, что для того, чтобы верно передать иной образ или фразу, в переводе их иногда должно совершенно изменить. Соответствующий образ, так же как и соответствующая фраза, состоят не всегда в видимой соответственности слов: надо, чтобы внутренняя жизнь переводного выражения соответствовала внутренней жизни оригинального»2. Суть сказанного заключается в том, что переводчик имеет дело не с набором отдельных слов, а с высказываниями, выражающими законченную мысль. Иначе говоря, переводчик переводит не просто слова, а мысли автора оригинала. Только в осознании этого принципа заключается способность овладения искусством перевода. Однако, это не исключает понимания того, что любое высказывание складывается из слов, без знания которых невозможно проникновение в смысл.
Таким образом, перевод следует рассматривать как творческий процесс, требующий глубокого понимания оригинала и умелого применения средств языка перевода. Адекватным можно считать перевод, который обеспечивает исчерпывающую передачу смыслового содержания оригинала, а также его функционально-стилистических особенностей.
§2 Словарь и словарные соответствия
Переводческая деятельность предполагает использование словарей различных типов и специализаций. При этом начинающие переводчики чаще пользуются двуязычными словарями (англо-русские) и значительно реже одноязычными словарями (англо-английские), не осознавая, что приводимые в двуязычном словаре варианты значения английских слов на русском языке как бы навязывают переводческие решения, «застревая» в сознании переводчика. Одноязычные же словари, где значение английских слов передается на английском языке, дают переводчику «образ» слова, его семантическую суть, предоставляя ему более широкое поле для осознанного выбора варианта перевода на русский язык. Разумеется, это не относится к переводу специальных (например, экономических или технических) терминов, где двуязычный словарь просто необходим.
Существуют две категории словарных соответствий: эквивалентные и вариантные соответствия. Эквиваленты – это неизменные равнозначные соответствия, как правило, не зависящие от контекста. К ним могут относиться, например, географические названия (Manchester – Манчестер), специальные термины (terms of payment – условия платежа; stock exchange – фондовая биржа), названия международных организаций (WTO – Всемирная торговая организация; IMF – Международный валютный фонд). Вариантные соответствия возникают, когда значению одного слова в одном языке соответствуют несколько слов другого языка. Например, прилагательное public может иметь целый ряд вариантных соответствий при переводе на русский язык: 1) государственный (public sector – государственный сектор); 2) общественный (public opinion – общественное мнение); 3) публичный, общедоступный (public library – публичная библиотека); 4) гласный, открытый (public protest – открытый протест); 5) коммунальный (public services – коммунальные услуги); 6) фин. свободно обращающийся на фондовом рынке (public limited company – акционерная компания открытого типа, акции которой свободно обращаются на фондовом рынке) и т.д.
Однако, бывают ситуации, когда в одном языке отсутствует эквивалентное или вариантное соответствие в другом языке. Тогда в словарях можно часто найти описательный или объяснительный перевод. Например, rights issue – дополнительный выпуск акций, при котором акционерам дается право покупки новых акций на льготных условиях. В некоторых случаях прибегают к способу так называемой транскрипции, то есть к воспроизводству в русском тексте английского звучания слова (impeachment - импичмент, derivative – дериватив), поскольку описательный перевод технически неудобен для ясного русского изложения. К сожалению, современная тенденция показывает, что многие переводчики не утруждают себя поиском каких-либо соответствий в русском языке, а с легкостью «создают» новые слова. Например, софтверный вместо программный, паркинг вместо парковка, сейл вместо распродажа и множество других примеров подобных «новых слов».
Вместе с тем, не следует уповать на словарь как на источник готовых ответов для переводчика. Ведь лишь контекст в своей содержательной и стилистической основе должен определять выбор переводческого решения.
